Database Specifications
The comprehensive artifact database was designed to provide, as much as possible for the disparate databases, a single set of tables that could be used for basic searching and quantative analysis.
The database (ChesapeakeSites.MDB) is designed in Microsoft Access. It includes two main tables—the artifact catalog and the context record table, along with several authority lookup tables and the artifact count summaries developed by Catherine Alston. The artifact catalog table contains over 148,000 records from the 18 sites. The context table contains some 12,600 records.
