The Comprehensive Artifact Database
The database can be downloaded in three formats: Microsoft Access 2003 (version 11), Microsoft Access 97 (version 7) or as a Comma-Separated Variable (CSV) file. If you have Microsoft Access, use one of those options (depending on which version you have--if you have any version prior to Access 2003, use the Access 97 option; otherwise, the CSV format is generally the most compatible with other applications, including Microsoft Excel). If you left-click one of the options below (using Internet Explorer), you will get a dialog box asking if you want to OPEN or SAVE the file. You are encouraged to save the file on your hard disk, even if you just want to view it, as the response time will be much faster. You can also right-click on the link and select SAVE TARGET AS... to save the file.

Artifact Count Spreadsheet
The Artifact Count spreadsheet was put together by project archaeologist Catherine Alston while creating the distribution maps. It provides a simple way to obtain basic counts of general artifact classes, and to compare the various sites on this basis. Because the counts were generated fairly early in the project, note that they sometimes will differ somewhat from counts obtained from the final artifact database.
If you have Microsoft Excel (version 97 or later), download the Excel 2003 file below. If you have an earlier version of Excel, use the Excel 95 option. You can also download the file as a comma-separated variable (CSV) file, which can be imported into a variety of spreadsheet programs, or in the fairly new "XML Spreadsheet" file format.

Individual Artifact and Context Databases
You are strongly encouraged to download the combined database above for an comparative work, as the fields have been standarized and the data collated so that a single (albeit large) table can be used for analysis. If you wish to download the original databases used by project staff on a site-by-site basis, however, you may do so below. Note that there is occasionally some variation in field names etc from site to site. Help with Download Choices

Site Base Maps
Maps can be downloaded in three formats: AutoCAD Drawing Exchange (DXF), which can be imported into CAD programs such as AutoCAD or MicroStation; Surfer SRF format, which can be loaded into Golden Software's SURFER program; or Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF), which can be opened with Adobe Acrobat Reader. The latter (PDF format) is generally the most compatible with other applications.
Each AutoCAD DXF or Surfer Base Map has been compressed into a "ZIP" file. You can copy this file to your computer and unzip it using one of a variety of free extraction programs such as WinZip. PDF files will open automatically if you have Adobe Acrobat Reader. Help with Download Choices
