Help with Searching

This page is intended to provide some guidance for searching the database on-line. Keep in mind that you can download the database to perform more complex queries.

Simple Search by Field or Fields

To search the database, use the dropdown lists on the ARTIFACT CATALOG SEARCH page (example below).

Sort Order

Use the dropdown list to change the sorted order. Options are:

  • Default (Site)-- SiteName, Material, ObjectType, KeyID
  • Context--SiteName, ContextNumber, Material, ObjectType, KeyID
  • ObjCount--ObjCount, SiteName, Material, ObjectType, KeyID
  • Object--ObjectType, SiteName, KeyID
  • Material--Material, SiteName, ObjectType, KeyID
  • Class or Temper--ClassTemper, SiteName, Material, ObjectType, KeyID
  • Taxonomy--Taxonomy, SiteName, Material, ObjectType, KeyID

You may also change the sort order on the results page by clicking on the appropriate column heading.

Paging

On the results page, you may use the buttons at the top of the page to move through the result set. The total number of pages returned is given at the top of the results page.
